Some thoughts on the wave train

the #wave hashtag has just been replaced as one of the most popular search tags on twitter by #chrome OS#.
But it's good, that something like wave creates a lot of discussion on the way we communicate and make use technology.

I sometimes wonder, if it is really valid to request, that technology has to adapt to the way we humans work.
That wouldn't leave a lot of room for us to evolve and the ability to communicate has proven to be mankinds greatest asset.

With wave it's like kids with Lego: it takes some time to adapt to the new possilities, make use of them and advance one's own abilities.
The problem is not, that a new technoloy opens up more possibilities than we imagine, but more than we can imagine.

In the 70's.
This new Faksimile appears to be cool technology...

In the 80's.
Again, my critique is simply that E-Mail appears to be cool technology...

In the 90's.
Again, my critique is simply that the Web appears to be cool technology without much deep thought having been put into how people communicate or why they communicate, what they would actually use it for.

No need to hurry a decision and no need to decide for the relevance of a new technology.
You see no need? Don't use it. Maybe in two years somebody introduces you to your perfect use case and there you are. Maybe it takes ten years.

In germany, the faksimile technology started with around 4.000 users in 1980, the technology has been introduced as a product in the mid-seventies. And there were no offices in the nineties without a fax.
