Shiny shiny Chrome
It seems like tonight's the night of chrome. Watching as the major scoop sites crumble under the load, the internet is all excited about this new browser.
- Googles announcement
- The Chrome Comic - definitely worth a read
- about the comic
- Official site, 404 to this time
- Valleywag on Chrome
- TechCrunch on Chrome
Even google books, where you can read the comic, is choking with the load.
Without having touched it myself, the promise of having a decent javascript engine, gives me goosebumbs. Even with the recent improvements in ff3 and Webkit, more speed can't really hurt.
On a sidenote: some bits of chrome seem to be inspired by the Firefox Concept Series of which I especially like the mobile concept.
And of course, that's where the questions start right now:
Chrome is based on Webkit, game over for Safari?
How will the everything is a Tab metaphor fit into Android or other mobile platforms? That's where most of the browsing pain is right now.
Is Chrome aiming to choke Air and Silverlight or really just another browser? Chrome/Gears seems like a profound team.

Coincidence?
While Yahoo is capable of producing a meaningful search result, search.live.com is not.
